We’ve got a lot of time on our hands these days. Many of us are working from home or are unfortunately not working due to tour cancellations and business closures.

I’ve heard a lot of people complaining about being stuck inside all day, not knowing what to do with their time.

But you know what? This is our time.

Now is the time to start the blog you’ve always wanted to start.

Now is the time to pivot your business from in-person to online.

Now is the time to read that stack of books collecting dust on your shelf.

Now is the time to learn and to build your skills in the online sphere.

Knowledge is Power

I strongly believe in continuing education, whether it be a formal education through a university or an informal education through books, online articles, conferences, online courses, or life experience.

It’s why I’ve been enrolling in courses on various topics and buying industry and business books since the day I graduated with my bachelor’s degree nearly 13 years ago. This knowledge has helped me earn a bit of savings through digital photography. It’s helped me understand consumer behavior and marketing techniques. It helped me secure a job in the music industry and move my way up through the company. It helped me build this website, the podcast, and the virtual service business.

I know, education is not for everyone and everyone has a different learning style. But that’s the cool thing about this new online course space - there’s something for nearly everyone being taught in nearly every kind of learning style.

So while you’re sitting at home with nothing to do, waiting for this pandemic to cease and normality to slowly return, why not learn some new skills, dive deep into learning about online business and monetizing your blog, and build a business on your own terms?

My Go-to Online Courses

These are the course and creators that inspired me to build my online business, to shift my mindset, to learn new skills, and to bring my knowledge and experiences to you. These four people / companies helped me grow what you’re looking at right now, and I 100% believe in them, their products, and their message. I’m not promoting them just because I might earn a bit of a commission from their sales, but because they are inspirational, motivational, and have incredible communities surrounding them.

If you truly want to create a thriving online business, to monetize your blog and your skills, and to shift your mindset then these are the courses to take and the people to follow:

1. She Did It Her Way

Amanda has been my business mentor since the days when this was just The Broken Glass Blog. I found her podcast while looking for an interview with Jen Sincero, and I was hooked. I eventually attended Amanda’s She Did It Her Way Summit and enrolled in her group coaching programs, membership program, and online courses. Amanda’s teaching style (and enthusiasm) were perfect for me to learn how to build an online business while working 9-5. She has a handful of courses available from learning how to podcast to creating content and scaling your business.

I highly recommend her courses (and podcast!) to anyone looking to transition from their 9-5 or to start an online business. She is a wealth of knowledge, and her enthusiasm for helping female entrepreneurs is contagious!

2. Bucketlist Bombshells

I found these two ladies, Cassie and Shay, through the She Did It Her Way Podcast. The entire premise of their business is based on learning to work remotely from anywhere in the world (though the travel part will have to come later) through digital design and tech skills (becoming a virtual assistant). In fact, when I was looking to build out my virtual services for Broken Glass Media, I turned to Bucketlist Bombshells so I could learn the ins-and-outs of the various platforms I would need to use as a VA. I built out my entire services business from taking their courses, and I can’t recommend them enough if you’re looking to uplevel your skills and build an online business based around any one of those services.

3. Create + Go

I turned to Create + Go when I knew I wanted to create something more than the blog and podcast to help musicians take their music career to the next level. The concept of their courses is all around the blog - launching a blog, how to drive traffic to your blog with Pinterest, and how to monetize your blog to six figures. They also offer these three courses as one bundle for those interested in launching and growing a successful blog. A Facebook community is included with your purchase and Lauren and Alex regularly update the courses as algorithms and the online business industry change.

I was blown away by the content in these courses as they break everything down, show you in detail how they created a six figure business and drive traffic to their blog. These courses are well worth the price, and I encourage anyone interested in blogging or even developing an eBook or eCourse to register.

4. Natalie Bacon

If you’re at all interested to know if Create + Go’s courses, work then Natalie is one of their success stories to check out. I met Natalie at the 2019 She Did It Her Way Summit when she attended as a speaker. I started listening to her podcast all about life coaching, started following her on Instagram, and joined her email list. She offers great advice not only about her method of taking courses and implementing each and every lesson for a successful business, but she’s developed several of her own courses about growing an online business, money mindset, and personal development.
