Weekly Podcast Tip #2: Will Clubhouse Replace Podcasting?

The one thing that I love about the podcast industry is that it's ever evolving. From new hosting platforms and offerings to apps that make podcasting easier (or obsolete?!), things are always changing.

This week I want to talk about two apps that have the potential to disrupt our industry: Clubhouse and Stereo.

Clubhouse

Clubhouse exploded on to the scene in the last few months, and my Facebook feed quickly filled with requests for invites, mentions of clubs, and how-to guides.

Not sure what Clubhouse is? Here are the basics: it’s an audio-based social media app that connects people from around the world through “rooms.” Users can hop in and out of subject-based rooms, connect with other users, and have impromptu conversations.

I registered at the beginning of the month by invite and joined clubs for podcasting, marketing, and entrepreneurship, among others.

As a podcasting club member, a room popped up in my notifications the other day with a title resembling “Will Clubhouse Kill Pods?” It was part six, so there must be some concern about Clubhouse taking the place of podcasting.

Now, I didn’t have the chance to listen to the conversation, but I pondered the topic for the last few days as I explored the app. Here are my thoughts on Clubhouse and podcasts.

Stereo

We're all about DIYing it over here but as any podcaster knows, it's not easy to put together a podcast! Lucky for us, there are a lot of new apps coming onto the market that will help make podcasting easier and more accessible.

In his article How To Get Started With Podcasting When You’re Lazy, Zach Klebaner introduces us to a new, free app called Stereo. Stereo is a Clubhouse like app with a podcast creation feature.

Check out Zach's article to learn more about how he's using Stereo for creative inspiration and podcasting.

Until next week!
